SRA International (SRA);
Fairfax, VA
Feb 2003 - Oct 2003
SRA provides call center support to the Internal
Revenue Service’s 26 toll free call centers. As part of this contract, SRA
supports the IRS Enterprise Telephone Data Warehouse (ETD). The ETD collects
data from multiple data sources - including the call centers - and produces
over 170 custom reports. At ETD, the system/database manager is responsible
for new development and operational stability on over 50 production SQL
Server databases, consisting of more than a terabyte of data. In addition to
managing three direct reports, performed the following tasks:
·
Migrated all 50 plus databases
from multiple locations and versions of SQL Server to a single server running
SQL Server 2000, service pack 3a.
·
Created a database schema for
managing database backups to tape while awaiting Veritas procurement.
Managed the development of stored procedures using the database scheme and HP
Storageworks MRU to automating the swapping and archiving of tapes.
·
Designed, developed, and implemented
a SQL Server DDL (Data Definition Language) archive utility. The archive
utility was created using Visual Studio .Net 2002 as a C# class library,
referencing the Microsoft DTS Package Object Library, Microsoft SQLDMO Object
Library, Microsoft SourceSafe 6.0 Type Library. The archive utility generates
a fresh copy of scripts for each object in each user database every day as
well as server-level objects like replication, DTS packages, and linked
servers. The archive utility stores the scripts in a SourceSafe database.
·
Designed, developed, and implemented
a C# application and database schema for the asynchronous execution of daily
operations processes and system-wide alerts. The application, which was
required to run on a NT server, uses asynchronous delegate invocation to
process a list of daily scheduled events from a processing queue table in a
SQL Server 2000 database. Events can be grouped together and the process
flow of events can be controlled based on simple dependencies between event
groups.
